Serekunda East and Banjul wrapped up their nawettans over the weekend, with the record holders Rangers & Juventus returning to the podium.

Rangers edged Hannover on penalties in the Kombo Real Estate final following a 1-1 draw. Churchillstown team won their third knockout trophy and their 13th trophy in history.

Nguma FC, who last won a trophy in 2000, was hoping to get inspiration from Rangers but went on to play goalless against Juventus in the Sunday league cup final. Coach Ebrima Cham’s boys went on to miss their 10th spot kick.

In the capital, Jamesen vs. Revelation ended in penalties. However, Jamesen has crowned the Rohey Malick Lowe initiative for girls and women empowerment League champions.

Ebrima Cham, who won both the Supercup and Knockout with Nguma FC as a player, reacted to his side losing.

“Very positive game, I am sad. I was provoked when I watched their semifinal, and they told me Nguma doesn’t play beautiful football. I said to myself that it was time to work now. They didn’t dominate me on any side during the final. It’s football, and I wanted to win.

What surprised me is that Alagie Wally was chosen as man of the match; football is discouraging in this country because I don’t know what statistics they used to award him the man of the match,” He told Alkamba Times Sports.

GFF exco member Modou Musa Njie told the TAT sports desk that his leadership is committed to pushing Banjul Football.

“The first final was a good one; both teams played the best football by far, conceding just three goals together. There are lots of challenges in organizing a nawettan; we are all newcomers on the committee, it was a leading process, and we are learning very fast. I have to congratulate the whole team; everybody played their role. Rohey Malick sponsored the trophies; she was with us since day one.” Njie indicated

The two zones will now focus on their zonal as Banjul takes on Brufut on Tuesday while Serekunda East faces Sanyang.
