Abdoulie Sanyang (Bamba) edged Brice Maubleu and Franck Bambock to be named as Grenoble Foot 38 April Player of the Month trophy.
Bamba who assisted Achille Anani in their 1-1 draw against Amiens SC scored three goals and created one penalty in the fourth month of 2022.
This week saw two other Gambian players named to the team of the week in Estonia and Latvia.
Foday Trawally scored twice against FC Flora Tallinn in midweek and produced MOTM performance taking his goal tally to three.
Alfusainey Jatta has also been having a run of a good form of late scoring and assisting
in FK RFS’ 3-2 win over Liepaja and capped the week with a Riga derby delight.
“I feel really happy to be named in the team of the week. For me, I think it’s a motivation and this is just going to make me work harder every day to be part of the subsequent list. My goals mean a lot to me, scoring 3 goals in 7 appearances already this season is something to be proud of but for me, is just the beginning hopefully, I can add a few more goals before the end of the season” stressed Trawally.
The former Gambia U20 vice-captain Alfusainey Jatta also cherished the team of the week appearance and he believes it will push him to do more.
“Getting a place in the team of the week means there’s something good I am doing which I am getting recognition for, so I’m grateful. The Riga derby, of course, is a special match and everyone knows that derbies around the world are special games, the preparation and focus during derbies are on different levels.”
