The Coalition of Civil Society Organisations in The Gambia has expressed concern about public utterances made by the Gambian leader Adama Barrow during the Muslim Eid-ul-Fitr address in Banjul toward a Human Rights Activist, Madi Jobarteh.
The group expressed disapproval over what they regarded as a ‘blatant attack’ on fundamental human rights and individual freedoms.
John Charles Njie, the Chairman of TANGO said how can the president brand anyone that speaks against the government as an enemy.
They called on the government to sharply redirect focus on the increasing rate of alleged corruption which so far attract no transparent investigations, high cost of food commodities, erratic electricity supply, poor public service delivery by public institutions, growing crime rate, and skyrocketing unemployment rate.
The CSOs further advised Gambians to be resolute and never allowed the evils of tyrannical government to return to the country.
