Senegalese superstar Sadio Mane is the winner of the CAF Africa Men’s player of the year award. Mane won the award for the second time, the first Senegalese to do so.
The Bayern Munich talismanic forward beat former Liverpool teammate Mo Salah and compatriot Édouard Osoque Mendy for the prestigious CAF award.
Mane played a pivotal role in helping the Teranga Lions smash seven-time champions Egypt in Yaoundé to claim the title. He went on to help Senegal beat Egypt for the second time in two months to qualify for FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Senegal won the CAF Team of the Year award. In contrast, coach Aliou Cissé, who guided his nation to the Africa cup of nations triumph, won the coach of the year award. The Men’s young player of the year award was given to 19-year-old Pape Matar Sarr from Senegal. The CAF goal of the year award 2022 also went to Senegal’s Pape Sakho.
