Following her extradition from Senegal on Friday, Police Prosecutor in Banjul has finally pressed manslaughter charges against the embattled former wife of Bob Kieta, Sainabou Mbaye, and two of his brothers in Cherno Mbaye and Kibili Dambelly.
According to police sources and per mile two prisons Covid- 19 protocols, she will undergo a covid test before being remanded at the central state prisons in the outskirt of Banjul.
Prosecutors indict her with Cherno Mbaye, and Kibili Dambelly with manslaughter at the Kanifing Magistrates Court before Principal Magistrate Omar Jabang.
Meanwhile, the case has been transferred to the Banjul High Court for proper arraignment as the magistrate court lacks jurisdiction to try capital offenses.
According to police prosecutors’ bill of indictment, Sainabou Mbaye, Cherno Mbaye and Kibili Dambelly on or about 3 of July 2022, at and diverse places in The Gambia, by an unlawful act or omissions amounting to culpable negligence, left one Muhammad Mbaye, a two-year-old boy resident of Brusubi, inside a car which causes his death.
