Barry Edges Nfansu Njie for Goal of the Week as Mustapha Jah Returns to Scoring Form

Abubakar Barry narrowly edged Nfansu Njie for Goal of the Week honours after stunning strikes in Austria and Cyprus respectively. Elsewhere, Gibril Sosseh made his debut in the Czech Republic, while an Ebotown-born forward found the net for Teungueth FC.

England

Brighton & Hove Albion have now failed to win in their last four matches after Crystal Palace edged them 1–0 on Sunday. Yankuba Minteh has featured from the bench in Albion’s last four games since returning from a hamstring injury.

Austria

Abubakar Barry scored his third league goal of the season in the Wien derby victory over Salzburg. The win lifts the Vienna-based club to third place on the table with 29 points.

Barry’s goal was pure class: he beat two players from the centre circle, surged forward, controlled the ball with his left foot, exchanged a quick one-two with Fischer inside the box, and calmly placed the ball into the top right corner with his left.

Czech Republic

Youssoupha Sanyang was handed his fifth league start, playing 61 minutes on the left wing as Slavia Prague cruised to a 4–0 win over Mlada Boleslav.

Gibril Sosseh returned to top-flight action, making his debut start for loan club Bohemians Praha. He played 45 minutes in their 2–1 defeat to Pardubice in the Czech Premier Liga on Sunday.

Cyprus

Nfansu Njie marked his recent Player of the Month award with a goal over the weekend. After linking up with Benbouli, who returned the pass, Njie made no mistake by rifling the ball into the top corner for his third goal of the season. Lamin Colley was also on the scoresheet, netting for DVTK.

Malta

Mustapha Jah ended his goal drought in Floriana’s 2–1 victory over Gzira, scoring a header for his seventh league goal of the season. Areias struck deep into stoppage time to seal a crucial win, as Floriana returned to the summit with a three-point lead.

Romania

CFR Cluj edged FC Universitatea Cluj 3–2, with both Sheriff Sinyan and Muhammadou Drammeh completing the full 90 minutes. Drammeh capped his performance with a goal in the 83rd minute.

Turkey

Gambian duo Ebrima Ceesay and Saikouba Jarju were both on target for Samsunspor in their 3–1 win over Trabzonspor. Ceesay opened the scoring in the 18th minute for his third league goal of the campaign, while Jarju scored his first goal at U19 level after featuring in the league cup.

Senegal

Teungueth FC piled pressure on the league leaders with a convincing 2–0 win over Dakar Sacré-Cœur. Ebrima Seckan provided an assist before getting his name on the scoresheet to cap an impressive display.
