Mbemba Drammeh, a former prominent supporter of The Gambia’s ruling National People’s Party (NPP), has reportedly fled to France after being released on police bail following allegations of election rigging.

Drammeh was arrested last year after making claims during an appearance on The Politic Kacha Show aired on Kerr Fatou media. He alleged that the NPP, under the leadership of President Adama Barrow, engaged in electoral fraud during the 2021 elections. He further asserted that he possesses evidence to substantiate these claims.

Following his release on bail, Drammeh reportedly left The Gambia for France on Friday, raising questions about the implications of his allegations and the ongoing investigations into the electoral process.

Authorities have not yet commented on his departure or the status of the allegations he has made. Police have arrested two individuals who acted as surety for Mbemba Drammeh following his departure from The Gambia. The two are currently detained at Kairaba Police Station as authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding Drammeh’s bail and subsequent flight to France. The police have not disclosed further details regarding the reasons for the arrests or the ongoing investigation.
