Despite being on a poor run of form, Jane Joof the head coach of the Gambia Football Federation’s reigning league champion, Fortune Football Club is optimistic that the team is still in a position to retain the trophy they won last year.
“The people in the squad knew how difficult it is to defend a title and we will continue to work hard to archive that dream as a team before the end of the season. You can see we made some achievement before the commencement of the second round but still things are not working the way we want at the moment,” he said.
The gaffer said the entire team is sad about the current situation. He called on the supporters to be patient as they work towards achieving their dreams of retaining the title.
“I am calling on all Fortune FC fans to continue supporting the team, we need them at this crucial point. Football is a game that is difficult to predict, last year by this time all of them were happy because we were winning but this time things are a bit different. We understand their frustration but they should continue to rally behind the team,” Jaine Joof said.
Fortune who comfortably won The Gambia Football Federation division one league title last season are currently struggling at the 10th position of the 16 team standings with 21 point after 18 league matches.
