Gambian foreign-based players continued their preseason training and test matches over the weekend. Denmark is one of the countries whose leagues are set to return next weekend. Foday Trawally continued his blistering form in Estonia.

 Belgium

Alieu Fadera was on target at the Cegeka ARENA when Genk was held to a 3-3 draw by Zulte Waregem. Fadera drew the first straw by giving the home team the lead in the 18th minute. KRC Genk will lock horns with Sporting and Burnely before kicking off the 2023/2024 season. 

France

Saikou Touray and Abdoulie Sanyang played 45 minutes as Grenoble Foot won 2-1 against Saint-Etienne. Bamba was close to scoring twice in the first half. Ablie Jallow was an unused substitute in Metz FC’s 3-1 win over RFC SERAING. 

Denmark 

Odense Bk wrapped up their Netherlands tour with a shocking 7-1 defeat against Twente FC. Alasana Manneh played 45 minutes. Back-to-back wins against Vejle and Viborg FF preceded their 7-1 defeat. Alasana Jatta played 30 minutes at Jysk Park as Viborg beat Silkeborg IF 4.2.

Randers edged AC Horsens 1-0 courtesy of Björn Kopplin’s goal. Gambia U20 captain Alagie Saine featured in the game, while James Gomez, who is linked to a move to Sparta Prague, wasn’t involved.

Turkey

 

The Eagles played a 1-1 draw against FC Augsburg, with the game ending abruptly. Gambian skipper Omar Colley didn’t play in that match. 

Qatar

Yusupha Njie came off the bench to debut in Al Markhiya’s 2-1 defeat against ALTAY FC. 

Czech Republic

BST Galaxy defender Musa Jatta was handed a start for FK Pohronie in their 5-3 defeat against Mahmud Bajo FK Zeleziarne Podbrezova.

Estonia

Foday Trawally, who was named in the Premium team of the week for match day 19, was among the scorers in JK Tallinna Kalev’s 4-1 win against Tartu JK Welco to reach the round of 16 of the Estonian cup.

Senegal

US Ouakam returned to Ligue1 following their 5-1 win over Walliydaan. The Moustapha Seck-led team finished the league in second position with 44 points. Aziz Ceesay is the top scorer in the league with 14 goals.
