The Gambia and Africa’s best referee Bakary Papa Gassama is handed the whistle for the gigantic World Cup qualifier game between Algeria and Cameroon.

Papa will officiate Algeria’s home leg of the FIFA World Cup playoffs against Cameroon. The Foxes will host the reverse fixture at Stade Mustapha Tchaker in Blida on March 29.

The winner over the two legs will secure one of the five slots for Africa in the World which is to be hosted by Qatar.

Algeria has made it to the world cup on four occasions with their closest attempt coming in 2014 when they exited at the round of 16, while the Indomitable Lions Cameroon have made seven World Cup appearances and stopped at the quarter-finals in their best attempts in 1990.
