Hawks Football Club is the confirmed winner of the Gambia Football Federation national division one league 2021-22 season following a comfortable 3-1 win over Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) late Thursday at the independence stadium in Bakau.
Star player Modou Lamin Jarju’s (Mbeaguere ) brace and skipper Omar Sarr’s first-half header were enough for the Banjul base team Hawks to celebrate their first league title in over two decades.
“It has been quite a long time for this amazing club to lay its hand on the national division one league title despite producing fantastic talents over the years.”
Coach Alieu Jagne told TAT Sports that some former players are playing their trades in the top leagues around the world. ‘ The coveted prize eluded us in the past two decades, and I believe our fans deserve to celebrate the league title as well.’
“If you have been following us closely since the commencement of the league, you will agree that we deserve to be crown champions with we already archive, the boys were consistent throughout the campaign with was significant to our achievement,’ Jagne added.
Hawks beat Gambia Armed Forces (GAF FC) 3-1 to finally secure the National division league that has eluded them for over two decades.
Coach Alieu Jagne’s boy’s Hawks amass 59 points in 29 league matches, whiles second place Real De Banjul Football Club secured 53 points.
Hawks will represent The Gambia in next season’s CAF Champions League.
