Historic Signing: Los Angeles Football Club Signs Gambian teenager

The United States Major League Soccer (MLS) club Los Angeles FC has announced the signing of a rising young Gambian soccer player, Bajung Darboe, on a four-year contract. 

According to information obtained by TAT Sports, LAFC signed Darboe, who plays in the midfield as a homegrown player from Minnesota United. 

“Darboe is a talented young player with a bright future,” LAFC co-president and general manager John Thorrington said about Darboe’s signing. 

 “We are excited to welcome him to LAFC and are excited to see him fulfill his potential.”

Darboe parents are from Brikama in the Gambia and living in Madison, Wisconsin. 

The 16-year-old previously played for Philadelphia Union II of MLS NEXT Pro, making 15 appearances (nine starts) in 2022. Reports show he played two friendlies for the United States U-17 team.
