Minteh hands Chelsea back-to-back defeats as Sosseh makes Kalmar FF debut

The weekend roundup produced stellar performances as Yankuba Minteh scored a brace against Chelsea at the Amex in the English Premier League. Ablie Jallow returned to action as Metz moved second in Ligue 2. Kalmar FF’s new signing Gibril Sosseh was handed a debut in the Swedish Cup on Saturday. Baboucarr Gaye returned to action after an injury layoff.

England
Yankuba Minteh scored his fourth and fifth Premier League goals on Friday to help Brighton & Hove Albion to a second triumph over Chelsea in a week as they followed up their FA Cup win with a 3-0 victory in the Premier League. Minteh produced a man-of-the-match performance and an all-around display for what was his 20th league appearance for the Seagulls (winning five tackles, 12/21 duels, and producing three key passes).

In League One, Stockport County needed late goals from Lewis Bate and Will Collar to go seven games unbeaten and get their first win against the Latics in 32 years.

Ibou Touray knocked on the visitors first chance within 30 seconds; his attempt from distance stung the hands of GK Sam Tickle; however, captain Jason Kerr cleared it out of danger. Ibou Touray played the entire game to register his 30th appearance of the season.

Germany
Abdoulie Ceesay continues coming from the bench as the Gambian striker made his fourth Bundesliga appearance on Saturday. Millerntor-Stadion faithfuls were let down when the home team conceded an own goal in the 88th minute from Philipp Treu. Abdoulie Ceesay was thrown in the fray as St. Pauli searched for the equalizer, looking to solidify their position away from the relegation zone.

France
FC Metz registered another win, this time against Guingamp, which took them to second on the table. The Grenats are just four points behind leaders Lorient ahead of their Saturday home match at the Saint-Symphorien against Ajaccio. Ablie Jallow replaced Cheikh Sabally in the 81st minute, returning to the team after missing the last two league games.

Grenoble F38 registered a 4-1 win against Amiens with Saikou Touray being named on the bench. The Gambian star replaced Dante in the 68th minute for what was his 12th appearance of the season.

Ajaccio has now won three out of their last four matches, following their 3-0 home win against ACA-Laval. Abubakar Kanteh scored the first goal, giving the home team the lead in the fifth minute. Bamba and Touré increased the lead for the host. This is the Gambian third league goal of the campaign.

Portugal

Farense’s survival took another blow following their 1-0 home defeat against Porto. Yusupha Njie was handed his home debut and lasted for 70 minutes. However, Moura scored a header in the 48th minute for the visitors.

Croatia

Abdoulie Sanyang has now started Hajduk’s last four games. Saturday’s game was the second time Bamba found the back of the net as he scored the equalizer against Istra, which eventually took them to second with a one-point difference against the leaders.

Czech Republic

Lamin Jawo has now scored back-to-back goals for Jablonec. Jawo doubled the host’s lead in the 48th minute when Alexis’s cross hit the bar from Holly’s header; the rebound was scored by Jawo from close range.

Macedonia
Scorpions shot-stopper Baboucarr Gaye made his long awaited return to action after almost a year out with a knee injury.
Gaye made his debut for his new side, FK Voska Sport, and helped them to their first league win in seven league games to take them off the bottom of the league. Voska won 2-0, claiming only their third clean sheet of the league season.

Sweden

The Swedish Cup returned with Kalmar FF, and Mjällby AIF playing over the weekend. Gibril Sosseh was handed his debut in the second half in the 80th minute but eventually lost 2-0 against Stockholm FC. Abdoulie Manneh was handed a start and lasted 77 minutes as Mjällby beat Landskrona BoIS 4-1 on Sunday afternoon in the Swedish Cup.
