In a bid to empower local entrepreneurs, the Njie Charakh School of Business and Entrepreneurship has launched its sixth intensive training course aimed at enhancing entrepreneurial skills in The Gambia.

Among the new cohort of students is Kanny Seka, who expressed her ambition, stating, “I joined this training to boost my business, and I believe that through this training, I can even be more than Njie Charahk in business.”

The three-month program is designed to support a diverse group of young Gambians, including vulnerable women entrepreneurs, by instilling essential business ethics and financial management knowledge. With the increasing need for self-employment opportunities, the course targets the development of critical skills that will contribute to sustainable business practices.

According to the organizers, the curriculum includes crucial topics such as business ethics, financial literacy, and overall business development concepts. The initiative reflects an understanding of small business owners’ unique challenges in the current economic landscape.

Modou Sarr, the CEO of the Njie Charakh School of Business and Entrepreneurship, elaborated on the motivation behind the training series.

“This training is for business and skills personnel, so we came to help them grow in their respective areas. We offer those in business support by providing goods to sell, thereby enhancing their marketing efforts and promoting savings,” he said.

The initiative aligns with government efforts to promote small-scale enterprises and create employment opportunities, particularly among youth and women across the country.

Over the years, Njie Charakh has offered practical training and provided starter goods to aspiring entrepreneurs, assisting them in launching and sustaining their businesses.

Fatou Bah, a program graduate, emphasized the improvements in her business approach since participating in the training. “I was working, but it was hand-to-mouth. I didn’t know how to run the business. But since I started dealing with Njie Charakh, I now know how to run the business, and I now have a savings account while running my business effectively,” she stated.

Mariama Samureh, another success story from the program, shared her experience of beginning her entrepreneurial journey by selling products provided by Njie Charakh. “With effort and commitment, I started enjoying the fruits of my labor. I now have an account for deposits and am optimistic for a boost in my business,” she noted, encouraging fellow entrepreneurs to take the training seriously and consider enrollment.

The most recent group of trainees comprises individuals from various business and skills backgrounds. They benefit from the school’s dedication to disseminating business knowledge and ethical practices nationwide. Upon completion of the program, participants will receive certificates and are expected to launch or expand their businesses starting Monday.
