Presentation of Mary Basic Cycle School humiliated Pakalinding Upper Basic School 5 – 1 in the finals of the Gambia School Football Association championship girls category to retain the title in a final played at the Jarra Soma football field.

Pakalinding’s inability to cope under pressure made the show a one-sided affair as Presentation proved how it was no match for a side taking part in the tournament for the first time.

Ellen Gomez broke the deadlock after 12 minutes to put Presentation ahead and swift footed Fatou Jammeh made it 2 – 0 as she sneaked from behind to tap into the bottom corner on the 19th minute before Ellen completed her brace with a beautiful freekick to put Presentation 3 – 0 up at halftime.

After the break, Presentation picked up where they left it as the teams dynamic centre forward Serra Jarju added a fourth goal from a one-on-one situation. Serra later hit a banger against the woodwork, but Fatou Jammeh was on hand to rebound home from close range and make it 5 – 0.

By the 5th goal, Pakalinding were already desperate but Fatoumatta Jallow pulled a consolation for them in the closing stages ending the tie 5 – 1 to the defending champions.

In the boy’s category, New Covenant also won the title with a commanding 3 – 0 win over Farafenni Upper Basic School.

Assan Badjie scored twice before Patrong Gomez completed the demolition with a cool finish.

The runners up at each category were handed silver medals and a consolation prize of D10,000 while the champions for both the boys and girls went away with winners medals, a trophy and D25,000.
