Kanifing Municipal Council Responds to FPAC Audit Queries with Detailed Documentation

The Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) has submitted a comprehensive response to the Finance and Public Accounts Committee (FPAC) of the National Assembly, addressing audit queries highlighted in the committee’s recently adopted report. The August 5, 2025, response reflects KMC’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and sound financial management.

In a letter addressed to the FPAC Chairman, KMC outlined its efforts to tackle the issues raised following the national assembly’s adoption of the audit report. The council expressed gratitude for the opportunity to clarify the concerns and pledged to provide all necessary supporting documentation for review. “We trust that the attached materials will provide clarity and assist in the resolution of the matters raised,” the letter stated.

As detailed by KMC, the audit queries include a range of financial and administrative concerns. These encompass missing payment vouchers totaling D7,677,470.61, discrepancies in the establishment register, unaccounted funds amounting to D60,000, and a misstatement of D125,780.00. Further issues involve an investigation report on deleting D297,941.43, audit trail irregularities in the Matrix system, an MBAIIT investigation into a D12 million land purchase, and allegations of a D30,000 bribe solicitation. Additional fiscal concerns include mechanisms to recover DGM224,450,956.97 and DGM253,404,553.58 for the fiscal year 2020, as well as GTRs amounting to D186,650.00 and GTRs from D300,2501 to D300,2600, as referenced in the Keyway Jeng report.

KMC emphasized that the provided documentation and attached materials aim to address these queries comprehensively. The council, based along the Kanifing Municipal Highway, reiterated its dedication to resolving the issues and maintaining robust financial oversight for the benefit of its residents.
