The latest aspiring presidential candidates for the Dec 4 elections to face officials of the Independent electoral commission are Mamma Kandeh of the Gambia Democratic Congress, Citizen Alliance Leader Dr. Ismaila Ceesay and two other Indepedent candidates in Momodou Bah and Mamadi KS Camara.
Both men filed their credentials with elections officials’ headed by Alieu Momar Njie, the commission’s chairman.
Speaking to Journalists after filing his nomination papers, Mama Kandeh who recently announced an alliance with the APRC No To NPP Alliance said if elected he will use all means to fight and end corruption, which he said is the order of the day in the Barrow administration.
He challenged other political leaders to be peace-loving and encourage their supporters to be law abiding citizens.
“My priority will be to reunite Gambians, we are so divided,” Kandeh said adding that his recent MOU with APRC NAM has nothing to do with bringing or providing amnesty to ex President Jammeh.
Whilst promising an all inclusive GDC government in 2021, Mr Kandeh told journalists that the APRC NAM is not legally registered and that his party GDC is nominating him for office of President.

Citizens Alliance Presidential candidate Dr Ismaila Ceesay, who recently led coalition formation efforts with several parties told reporters that his government will prosecute anybody found committing crimes against Gambians such as violations committed in the regime of former President Jammeh.
“We shall punish violators of human rights and ensure victims are fully compensated. Making sure dictators and perpetrators of heinous crimes pay for their crimes is a must. It is not only about Yaya Jammeh it is about anybody who has committed crimes. No Gambian should be immune from justice, that is the only way we can have true reconciliation and stability, he said while promising that a CA government that will provide justice and reparation for victims of Jammeh atrocities”.
The University Lecturer turned Politician who was at the election house with his wife also said: “We need serious economic reforms in this country, we must get the governance right and we will get everything right in this country,”
Two others little known Independent candidates Momodou Bah, a young graduate and Mamadi KS Camara, a teacher also submitted nomination documents.
