Opposition National Democratic Party (NDP) leader Kebba Madi Bojang was on Tuesday, 29 September 2026, listed before Magistrate K. Sambou of the Brikama Magistrate’s Court in a civil land dispute but failed to attend the hearing.
Bojang and Bojang Properties and Investment Company are named as defendants in a suit filed by Sainey Ceesay and Sanna Ceesay. The plaintiffs say they paid D215,000 for a plot of land at Nema Fula Kunda in the West Coast Region and are now seeking recovery of that sum together with D100,000 in damages.
Court records show the defendants were served with notice to appear. When the matter was called, they were not present. Counsel T. Bayo, appearing for the plaintiffs, asked the court to proceed, arguing that service had been properly effected.
Magistrate Sambou noted the absence but declined to take evidence that day. Citing a heavy list of fresh cases, the court adjourned the matter and directed that a fresh hearing notice be served on the defendants before the next sitting.
The case was stood down to 2 November 2026, when the plaintiffs are expected to open their case.
The claim arises from an alleged land transaction that the plaintiffs say was not completed as agreed. They contend they paid the purchase price for the Nema Fula Kunda plot and now want a refund and compensation for the delay and inconvenience.
Bojang, a prominent opposition figure and head of the property company named in the suit, has not yet entered an appearance or filed a defense according to the proceedings reported on Tuesday. His absence leaves the court with an uncontested record of service at this stage, though the magistrate has given the defendants a further opportunity to attend.
Land disputes of this kind are common in the West Coast Region, where rapid development has increased pressure on plots and documentation. The plaintiffs’ combined claim of D315,000 places the matter firmly within the magistrate court’s civil jurisdiction.
