The weekend saw international football dominated by a series of friendly matches and Nations Cup fixtures, while league cup ties, domestic league games and other friendly matches also featured several Gambian players across Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
England
Lamin Sillah returned to the starting XI for Gillingham as they played out a goalless draw against Newport County on Saturday. Sillah played 63 minutes as Gillingham moved to 10th position in the Sky Bet League Two standings.
Czech Republic
Lamin Jawo’s penalty was enough to send Jablonec through in the Czech Republic’s MOL Cup. Jawo converted from the spot in the 36th minute against Dukla Prague to secure the victory for Jablonec. New signing Pa Assan Corr was introduced in the 65th minute for the hosts.
Denmark
AC Horsens defeated Vejle 2-1 on Friday, with Ismaila Ceesay coming on in the second half and winning a penalty that was converted to seal the victory. Ceesay came close to adding a third for Horsens, but his effort was denied by the goalkeeper.
Another fixture in Denmark produced a nine-goal thriller as Kolding IF defeated OB Odense 5-4. Alasana Manneh was handed a starting role for Kolding in the high-scoring encounter.
Germany
In front of 55,067 spectators at the Volksparkstadion, Bundesliga side Hamburg SV welcomed FC Copenhagen. Late goals from Amoako in the 83rd minute and Remberg in the 89th secured victory for the Rothosen.
Gambian youngster Sheikh Jaw replaced Kenay Myrie in the 76th minute to make his debut for FC Copenhagen .
Sweden
Hammarby edged Västerås 1-0 in Årsta, with Suwaibou Kebbeh playing the entire game and creating three opportunities.
Musa Njie registered his first assist for Umeå in their 2-1 home victory over their opponents.
Njie set up Sam Forsman to break the deadlock in the 35th minute. The Gambian, on loan from Östers, went on to play 76 minutes, making his seventh league appearance for Umeå.
Finland
Pa Modou Sohna was on target against HJK Helsinki as Paide secured a 2-2 draw against the record Finnish champions.
Pa Amat Cham, Dawda Darboe and Momofou Jobarteh all started the game, with Sohna introduced from the bench.
The Gambian midfielder, who is closing in on double figures in the league, produced another classic finish for the visitors.
UAE
Momodou Jatta made his third appearance for Al Jazira in their 2-0 away victory against Khor Fakkan. Jatta played the full 90 minutes and dominated the midfield in both defensive and offensive phases as Al Jazira secured all three points.
Philippines
Manila Diggers made it three wins from three matches following their 2-0 home victory over DH Cebu FC. Baboucarr Touray was voted Man of the Match after another impressive performance.
Touray was involved in the build-up to Tafem’s goal before scoring 12 minutes later with a sublime finish from the left-hand side, sending a low shot into the bottom corner beyond the goalkeeper.
DH Cebu created several opportunities and came close to pulling a goal back, but the Manila Diggers goalkeeper stood firm.
Bangladesh
Fortis and City Club played out an entertaining 3-3 draw. The hosts found themselves two goals behind after 16 minutes following a brace from Okafor.
Pa Omar Babou provided an assist for Fortis, while Essa Jallow got on the scoresheet from the penalty spot. New signing Solomon Kanform played the full 90 minutes for City Club.
