The secretary general of The Gambia Referees Association Haruna Cham has been stripped of his position as a member of The Gambia Football Federation Referees committee with immediate effect by the president of The Gambia Football Federation Lamin Kaba Bajo.
‘Yes it is true I have been removed from my position as a member of The Gambia Referees Committee. I received an official letter from the Federation signed by the General Secretary that my appointment as a member of the referees’ committee has been rescinded by the president of the Federation without indication of what I have done wrong during my time as a member of the committee from 2018 to date,” Mr. Cham said.
“I am out of the GFF referees committee. But not the association, because I am still the Secretary General of The Gambia Football Federation Referees Association which Lamin Kaba Bajo has no power to interfere. I was elected by the referees in a congress.”
Reacting to news, Baboucarr Camara, GFF director of communications confirmed the development but was quick to add that the decision is constitutional as per the power vested on the President of GFF who doubles as the chairman of the committee.
