The West Coast Region Local Organising Committee (LOC) executive members are preparing ahead of the Secondary Schools Sports Association regional athletics heats in Region 2, which is slated for the 15th to 19th of February at the Kinderdorf Bottrop Technical Upper and Senior School in Brikama.
Abdoulie S. Sowe, the Secretary General of the West Coast Region LOC, said they expect over 50 Junior and Senior Schools for the Region 2 Athletics Heats.
This will be the first time such a demeaning number will participate in the region’s two athletics heats.
“We expect more than 52 Upper Basic and Senior Secondary Schools this year. That’s a high number, the biggest we have ever had compared to previous years. It is challenging, but that’s the beauty of sports,” Sowe said.
The West Coast Region LOC Secretary-General advises Sports Teachers and athletes to uphold professionalism and fair play. Mr. Sowe assures the general public that the Gambia Police Force will deploy its men to help them maintain peace and order.
“We urged PE Teachers and athletes, especially teachers, to be professionals throughout the events. Teachers should remember that inter-school is all geared up to set the platform for students to show their talents. The Gambia Pollice Force will also send PIUs to maintain peace and order,” Abdoulie Sowe said.
