The Bolivian Football Federation has canceled its friendly against Gambia, scheduled for Sunday, October 4, 2026, in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, after what it calls a unilateral decision by the Gambia Football Federation.

In an official statement issued in La Paz on October 1, the FBF said the match was called off despite a signed contract for the fixture. The federation described the Gambia side’s withdrawal as a breach of contract. It said it will take the matter to the relevant sports authorities and seek the most severe economic and sporting sanctions available.
The cancellation leaves ticket holders without a match. The FBF said it regrets the inconvenience to fans and ticket buyers, and that it will announce details of the refund process later through its official channels.

No explanation from the Gambia Football Federation has been released at the time
of this statement.

The fixture had been arranged as an international friendly between the two national teams. With the game now off, Bolivia’s planned preparation in Santa Cruz will not go ahead as scheduled, and any financial or disciplinary consequences will depend on the outcome of the procedures the FBF says it intends to open.
