The Mobile Traffic Unit successfully tracked over 100 fake motor-vehicle number plates in a major operation to uncover undocumented vehicles plying the roads, The Gambia Police said on Friday.
Commissioner Lamin King Colley and his operatives targeted nearly 150 private vehicle owners using fake number plates to conduct commercial transport.
The assistant police Public Relations Officer Inspector Alieu Jamanka told this medium that the suspects have already been charged and are awaiting trial.
