Tambedou, Fofana steal show as Gambian players continue to excel abroad

Bubacarr Tambedou and Wally Fofana scored a brace each as Momodou Jatta made his third league appearance. Metz and Brighton dropped valuable points over the weekend, while Paide were edged against Flora. Abdoulie Manneh continued his impressive form in the Swedish Allsvenskan.

Italy
Como moved to 13th position following their 3-0 win over Lecce, thanks to Assane Diao’s brace and a rare Edoardo Goldaniga header. Alieu Fadera was an unused substitute as Como practically celebrated Serie A safety.

Virtus Verona’s top four credentials was dealt a blow as they drew 1-1 with fifth-placed Giana Ermino. Sibi played the entire game.

France
Metz FC are currently struggling against  bottom half teams  following their 2-2 draw against Rodez FC which saw them drift four points behind in the automatic promotion place. Ablie Jallow was introduced in the second half as Metz salvaged a point.

Abou Kanteh scored the equalizer to register his 6th league goal of the season for AC Ajaccio as they drew 1-1 against Pau FC in the French Ligue 2 on Friday. Abou has been in fine form since returning to action with the notable French club.

Switzerland
Adama Bojang and Grasshopper were beaten at home in the six-pointer match against FC Winterthur. The visitors who saw much of the possession kept knocking on the doors of Grasshopper, and they found the breakthrough in the 48th minute. Adama Bojang came close to giving the host the lead, but the goalkeeper denied his long range strike. Moments later Bojang was connecting from a cross, but his effort squared off into the skies of Letzigrund stadium.

The Grasshopper penalties outcry finally came to realization when they were awarded a spot kick in the 80th minute, but captain Giotto Morandi was denied by the visitor’s goalkeeper as they lost three crucial points.

Sweden
Hammarby were humbled at the Strandvallen stadium. Bajen were coming from three straight wins, but Mjällby managed to score three of their chances, with Abdoulie Manneh starting the buildup for the opener, which Herman Johansson eventually scored. Mjällby’s three goals came in the first half, and they moved to 2nd on the table.

Kalmar FF secured a 2-0 win in the Superettan against Östersunds FK thanks to goals from Sivert Øverby and Saku Ylätupa. Gibril Sosseh was an unused substitute.

Estonia
Levadia extended their lead on top of the table by four points; this came after getting their highest win so far. Bubacarr Tambedou scored a brace and assisted one in Levadia’s 9-0 win over Tallinn Kalev. Tambedou, who made his 37th Premium Liiga appearance on Saturday, now has four goals in eight matches.

Paide were handed their second defeat of the season after their defeat against Flora. Badamoesi and Muhammed Susso were both introduced in the 57th minute to get Paide going, but Raung’s 25th-minute goal was the difference as Paide’s four-game unbeaten streak came to an end.

Slovakia
Ousman Kujabi scored his 5th goal of the season for FK Pohronie in their 5-2 defeat to Petržalka in the Slovakian Liga 2 on Friday. Ousman was making his 13th start in 18 appearances and has managed 1249 minutes so far.

Muhammed Hydara also made his 21/21 starts in the game, completing 1801 league minutes with an average of at least 86 minutes per game.

Latvia
Wally Fofana scored a brace as BFC Daugavpils beat FK Liepaja 4-2. BFC Daugavpils are currently in 4th position after match day 8.

Bosnia
Former Gambia U20 midfielder Momodou Jatta, who played the entire second leg of the semifinals for FK Sarajevo, was handed his third league appearance against league leaders FK Borac Banja Luka. Jatta was named in the starting XI for the first time and went on to play 45 minutes.
