Waa Banjul Football Club and the Gambia Youth U-20 goalkeeper Pa Ebou Dampha are hopeful of the Young Scorpion’s chances of winning the TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Egypt.
The Gambia’s U-20 first-choice netminder, Pa Ebou, told The Alkama Times Sports he is confident they can win the tournament with the array of talents coach Abdoulie Bojnag has at his disposal.
“This is a great team full of talents in the squad. But, of course, this team can even win the AFCON U20 this year. I believe in this team, but our main target is to qualify for the world cup U20; by the grace of Allah, we can do it,” Pa Ebou Dampha said.
Despite finishing as runners-up in WAFU qualifiers, coach Abdoulie Bojang has boosted his squad with foreign base players like the Bayern Munich youngster Mamim Sanyang, Kajally Drammeh of Cape Town City, and Ebrima Singhateh of Slavia Prague.
Pa Ebou tips the Gambia Young Scorpiona as one of the favorites to win the Youth AFCON. He said the competition for places is very high in coach Abdoulie Bojang’s 25-man squad.
“We have a great team; everyone is ready to play team is full of competition for starting place, and I believe our team is one of the favorites to win this year’s Afcon tournament U-20,” Pa Ebou Dampha revealed.
The Gambia booked their ticket for the competition after finishing runners-up at the WAFU-A Zone qualifiers in Nouakchott, Mauritania.
The Young Scorpions will play against Tunisia in their opening campaign on the 21st of February at the Alexandria Stadium.
