Sidibeh with a brace, Gomez sees Red as Noah makes Super Lig debut

Gambian foreign-based players weekend roundup week 32 saw Adama Sidibeh opening his account with a brace and Alasana Manneh with another assist for OB Odense. Both Ablie Jallow and Adama Bojang wrapped up preseason, while Minteh registered his third preseason goal against Spanish side Villarreal.

England

Derby County and Ebou Adams kicked off life in the championship with an away defeat following their 4-2 loss against Blackburn. The Gambian was introduced in the second half by replacing Goudmijn in the 73rd minute.

Notts County secured a point on the road following their nail-biting goalless draw against Tranmere at Prenton Park. Alasana Jatta was handed a spot upfront to lead the attack; his first opportunity was a diving header that went meters from target.

Scotland

Adama Sidibeh scored a brace for St. Johnstone in their 3-0 win over Kilmarnock. Sidibeh now has seven goals in 17 Scottish Premiership appearances. Sidibeh gave the visitor’s the lead in the 4th minute before doubling the lead in the 33rd minute at the Rugby Park with a sublime low drive shot.

Turkey

Noah Sonko made his first appearance for Sivasspor in the Turkish league opener against Trabzonspor. The Gambian international played the entire duration of the game.

Besiktas won 2-0 thanks to goals from Silva and Paulista as they edged Samsunspor. Omar Colley had 100% tackles won, 3 blocks, 3 clearances, and two final third passes with 40 touches.

Champions Young Boys BSC settled for another one point following their 2-2 draw against Yverdon-Sport. Ebrima Colley was handed a start and was involved in the Young Boys’ second goal.

Denmark

Vejle struggles continues as they lost for the third consecutive time following a Midtylland 2-0 home win. Hamza Barry started while Musa Juwara came off the bench.

OB Odense registered its fourth consecutive win, beating Hillerod 1-0. Alasana Manneh provided the assist and now has three assists in four matches. James Gomez was sent off following his second booking offence in the 75th minutes.

Sweden

Abdoulie Manneh was making his second start in the last five league games as the former Wallidan forward reaches 10 league matches. Mjällby fell away at home thanks to a Rui Modesto strike. Manneh was replaced by Imam Jagne in the 69th minute.

Preseason

Yankuba Minteh scored his third preseason goal as he extends Brighton’s lead against Villarreal in the 68th minute. The 20-year-old Gambian has now netted 3 goals, 1 assist, and won one penalty in the preseason.

Metz and Ablie Jallow wrapped up their preseason with a 1-1 draw against the Amiens. Jallow lasted 83 minutes, which was his attempt to hit off target; his setpiece in the 55th minute was headed off target by Udol.

I started my journalism career as a football analyst in 2012 with Vibes FM and went on to work with CityLimit, West Coast, Hot FM, Freedom Radio, Eye Africa and Afri Radio as a content producer and presenter.
