Kansala FC have been crowned champions of the Bakau Sports Committee’s (BSC) Kaba Bajo Super League after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Luneburg in the Super Cup final played over the weekend. Pa Musa Jammeh scored the decisive goal, set up by a skillful dribble from Tony Gomez, to secure the title and the accompanying silverware.
The match also served as the official unveiling of the second pavilion at Bakau Football Park. Officials confirmed that the newly constructed facility cost more than two million Dalasis and forms part of a broader drive to improve grassroots football infrastructure in the community.
The project realizes a long-held vision of Ousman Choi Drammeh, President of the Bakau Sports Committee. Manasi Architects and Construction Company delivered both pavilions. Speaking at the ceremony, the company’s CEO described the work as more than a standard contract. “For us, this is more than a construction assignment. It is a contribution to the development of sports infrastructure and the creation of better facilities for our sporting community,” he said. He added that the buildings’ quality would serve the community, support sporting activities, and leave a lasting legacy for future generations.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Drammeh reflected on the challenges of the past two years. He said his administration set out to deliver significant infrastructure. “We know it was really difficult, we know there will be challenges, but Alhamdulillah, with the support of the people of the community of Bakau,” he stated. He also acknowledged his former boss, Mr Bajo, and urged sponsors and partners to stay engaged. “We definitely relish the development trajectory that we have embarked upon recently since we took over, and we call on everyone, especially our sponsors and partners, to continue being side by side to ensure that we continue to deliver for the people of Bakau and The Gambia by extension, because football development has no boundaries,” he added.
The pavilion is expected to be in regular use when the Divisional League begins in a few months. A former President of the Gambia Football Federation described the development as a laudable achievement, noting that it reflects the kind of complementary support national football authorities have long sought from local structures.

Kansala coach Ousman Bojang said his side’s preparation had been thorough and tailored to local conditions. “I understand Bakau football; thus I employed winning tactics,” he explained. “It’s a very significant preparation; we started a long time ago. I understand football; I cannot say I am the best, but I understand, and I know what it takes to win a trophy.”
As champions, Kansala received D30,000, medals, and a giant trophy. Runners-up Luneburg collected D20,000. Pa Musa Jammeh was named Man of the Match, while coach Bojang received a special accolade sponsored by Lamin Sanneh, popularly known as Mourinho.
