The Taranga Lions of Senegal have maintained their recent superiority over Egypt as they defeated them 3 – 1 on penalties and qualified for the World Cup, Nigeria who lost to Ghana, and Algeria who were defeated by Cameroon also missed a spot in Qatar.

Senegal and Egypt were separated on penalties as Sadio Mané stepped up to score a winning penalty after a one-all aggregate.

Black Stars of Ghana produced a shocker in Nigeria as they defeated the Super Eagles of Nigeria on away goal rule. The two played a goalless draw in Accra and a 1 – 1 draw in Nigeria.

In Algiers, the continent witnessed the most recent shock in African football as Toko Ekambi scored a last gasp winner to send Cameroon to Qatar on away goal rule as the two were tied 2 – 2 on aggregate.

Morocco also qualified with a 5 – 2 aggregate win over DR Congo, while Tunisia also beat Mali 1 – 0 on aggregate to become another African representative in the coming World Cup.

Senegal, Ghana, Cameroon, Morocco, and Tunisia will be the five nations to represent Africa in the 2022 summer World Cup in Qatar.
