In a heartfelt initiative timed with the upcoming Tobaski (Eid al-Adha) celebrations, the Africa Relief and Community Development (ARCD), in collaboration with Islamic Relief USA (IRUSA), has unveiled a 30 million Dalasi (USD 450,000) Qurbani Project to uplift over 65,000 vulnerable individuals across six West African nations: The Gambia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Mauritania, Guinea-Bissau, and Niger.

This ambitious campaign goes beyond distributing Qurbani meat, embodying a message of hope, dignity, and solidarity. Targeting orphans, female-headed households, and people with disabilities in remote villages, the project aims to reach communities often overlooked by humanitarian aid. “This initiative is about sharing love and respect, reminding the vulnerable they are not alone,” said Mohammad Maani, ARCD’s West Africa Regional Director.

The project ensures compliance with Islamic guidelines, utilizing ethically sourced animals that are processed under strict health and humanitarian standards. The initiative also boosts the local economy by engaging local Gambian suppliers, transporters, and butchers, creating short-term jobs, and supporting small businesses during the Eid season. This locally driven approach enhances cultural relevance and operational efficiency.

ARCD’s field teams, alongside trusted community partners, are working diligently to ensure seamless delivery of the project. The effort not only provides essential nourishment but also fosters community unity and economic empowerment. “This Tobaski, we’re lifting burdens and restoring hope, one family at a time,” Maani added.

The partnership between ARCD and IRUSA reflects a shared commitment to compassion and collective responsibility. By prioritizing transparency and quality, the project sets a high standard for regional humanitarian aid. ARCD calls on donors and the public to join this mission, emphasizing that every contribution can make a tangible difference in the lives of thousands.

As West African families prepare for Tobaski, this initiative stands as a beacon of solidarity, ensuring that the most vulnerable can partake in the season’s blessings. For those wishing to support the cause, ARCD invites contributions to help extend the reach of this transformative project, bringing relief and joy to communities across the region.
