The Gambia Police Force (GPF) has dismissed three police constables with immediate effect after they were found guilty of gross misconduct.

Police Constable Alieu G. Camara, Police Constable Buba Touray and Police Constable Ismaila Bah were removed from the force following the conclusion of internal disciplinary proceedings, the GPF announced on July 27, 2026.

The action stems from separate incidents of misconduct. One widely circulated video showed PC Alieu G. Camara behaving in a manner unbecoming of a police officer toward a shopkeeper. In line with GPF disciplinary procedures, the three officers were formally charged and appeared before an Orderly Room hearing, where each pleaded guilty to the charges against them. Their guilty pleas led directly to their dismissal.

The GPF said the decision underscores its zero-tolerance policy toward misconduct and its commitment to professionalism, discipline and accountability. The force reaffirmed that any officer who violates laws, regulations or ethical standards will face consequences under established procedures, stressing its determination to maintain public confidence in policing.
