African Youth Architects (AYA) has launched an ambitious initiative, Knowledge Transfer by Africans for Africans (KTAFA), aimed at transforming higher education in The Gambia through targeted skills development and expert-led training starting January 2026.

The program will deliver seminars, workshops, and webinars to over 500 students across the country’s major tertiary institutions, featuring volunteer experts from Africa and the diaspora. Modules will focus on practical skills and academic support tailored to real student challenges.

To ensure the initiative addresses the most critical needs, AYA is conducting an anonymous nationwide Academic Needs Assessment Survey for all tertiary students. The results will directly shape KTAFA’s curriculum and delivery approach.

Beyond training, KTAFA will produce an evidence-based policy brief with recommendations to strengthen higher education quality. The document will be presented to the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science, and Technology (MoHERST) and other stakeholders to influence long-term reforms and foster greater collaboration and knowledge exchange.

Tertiary students are strongly encouraged to participate in the short anonymous survey before program design is finalized.
