Basiru Sallah

For nearly a decade, Basiru Sallah has been a quiet force behind some of The Gambia’s most compelling visual stories. As a dedicated filmmaker and video editor, he has captured the voices of ordinary citizens, documented national events, and helped shape public understanding through powerful news packages and documentaries.

With more than ten years of professional experience, Sallah has earned a reputation for creativity, professionalism, and a deep commitment to human-centered storytelling. His work has spanned television news production, long-form documentaries, and digital content, always with a passion for amplifying the experiences of everyday Gambians.

Sallah began his career at Star TV in April 2017, serving as a Video Editor until December 2024. During his tenure, he played a key role in producing timely news bulletins and informative documentaries that reached audiences nationwide. In January 2025, he moved to QTV, where he continued to contribute his expertise until April 2026, further strengthening the station’s visual storytelling capabilities.

Today, however, the storyteller has become the subject of his own urgent story. Sallah has been diagnosed with Liver Cirrhosis secondary to Chronic Hepatitis B infection, a serious condition confirmed by clinical and laboratory investigations. Medical specialists have recommended advanced treatment abroad, offering a genuine chance for recovery and the opportunity for him to return to the work he loves.

The cost of overseas medical care, travel, and associated expenses far exceeds his financial resources. After years of selflessly helping communities tell their stories, Sallah now needs the nation’s support in his time of need.

Friends, colleagues, media institutions, businesses, and compassionate individuals are urged to rally around him. Every contribution — no matter how modest — will bring him closer to receiving life-saving treatment. Beyond finances, messages of encouragement and prayers are equally valued as he faces this difficult chapter.

Sallah has expressed deep gratitude for the solidarity already shown and stands ready to provide all necessary medical reports and documentation to genuine supporters.
