The opposition United Democratic Party staged a massive political rally in Sukuta one of the strongest political enclaves in the Gambia. The Sukuta rally is part of UDP campaign efforts for Dec elections. Various parties including President Barrow’s NPP are all out canvassing for votes and selling their programs and policies to Gambians ahead of the crucial polls.
Thousands of party supporters and loyalists thronged Sukuta to show support and assure Ousainou Darboe of their vote.
More than 20 candidates will be seeking the people’s mandate with Barrow who formed an alliance with the party of former President Yahya Jammeh.
Speaking at the rally, Lawyer Darboe thanked the people of Sukuta for according him a rousing welcome and called on Gambians to massively vote for the UDP government that will embark on Institutional reforms.
He said the UDP government will fight corruption and build structures to ensure accountability and transparency. ‘fighting corruption is key on the UDP’s five point agenda, he told cheering supporters.
