Yunusa, who led Rhino’s promotion from the third division to Elite football, describes his farewell as a sad moment in his career but admits that he is looking forward to his next chapter.
“It’s a tough decision that I have taken. I felt sad; I had a good relationship with the players and management. I believe in my talent and hard work. I can achieve more than I did with Rhino FC, and I am already looking forward to the next challenge,” He told TAT Sports.
FC Rhino’s official press release stated that health reasons made them release their coach.
However, the double Zonals winner with Serekunda East, Badjie, said there is more to it than just his health conditions.
“Coaching should provide necessary things to make my job easy. My health condition is not stopping me from working. I can even return to work tomorrow. I do not want to continue with this condition,” he stressed.
After disagreeing on terms, a contract was on the table but never signed between Team Rhino and Yunusa.
The working terms include transport allowance, a match bonus per three points and a draw, compensation when he wins the league or finishes in the top three & players’ sale percentage.
Team Rhino demanded D150,000 as a release clause if any team wanted Yunusa as a price tag.
In his two stints in the First Division, he finished 6th position when he was tasked only to avoid relegation, that season beating Banjul utd, Marimoo, and drawing Brikama UTD. This season Yunus’s lead charges beat Hawks, Marimoo, Wallidian, and Brikama Utd; they finished eight positions. Yunusa is known for ball possession, seeing his Team Rhino doing the build-up from the back. Ninety percent of the players were recommended by Yunusa, who installed a great mentality, playing fiercely and controlling the game. Rhino under Yunusa has seen players representing the U20 & U23.
The former Blue Star coach has won Two Super Cups, Two Zonals Championships. One League Cup and One Knockout Cup.
Three First Division clubs and One second-division club have opened negotiations with Yunusa already. Yunusa hopes to have a strong team because he thinks the game needs sacrificing finances, enabling him to establish his ideas.
“I want to be one of the most successful coaches in the league, lead one National team and ensure I am well equipped, having a PRO License.”
