Yonna Islamic Microfinance, one of the country’s leading Islamic microfinance institutions, has opened a new branch in Basse, Upper River Region, in their thrive to provide financial inclusion through Islamic microfinance.

Speaking at the opening, the Managing Director of Yonna Yankuba Mambureh said the opening of the new branch indicates their dedication to empowering communities, individuals, and most notably, women through their tailored financial services.

“Today, as we expand our reach with this new branch, we reaffirmed our commitment to delivering excellence services and positively impacting the lives of Basse and the surrounding communities.”

The latest branch is the 10th branch of the Islamic Financial Institution since its inception.

“We have established our presence here because we recognize this community’s untapped potentials and opportunities.”

DG Mambury said their goal as an Islamic Microfinance institution is to provide exceptional service excellence, foster financial inclusion, and support entrepreneurs. He says they have helped shape many individual lives and dreams into reality.

“We have witnessed the transformation of businesses and empowerment of individuals, driving economic growth and prosperity in their communities.”

Lamin Camara, Head of Shariah and Compliance Yonna Islamic Microfinance told the gathering that Shariah banking differs from other banking forms.

“In conventional banking, there is an interest, while in Islamic banking, there is no interest attached,” he said

Mamadi Ceesay, the Deputy Governor of URR, has his region has witnessed challenges in terms of access to finance.

He hailed the board of Yonna for marking their presence in his region, adding it would reduce the burden on issues of youth unemployment in the region.
