The Gambia Police Force has invited opposition United Democratic Party campaign manager Momodou Saball and nominated Brikama Area Councilor Sheriffo Sonko for questioning.
Both Momodou Sabally and Sherrifo Sonko are strong critics of the government and security officers in the country.
In a press statement, the Gambia Police Force confirmed that Saballyhads had been invited for questioning for a comment he posted on his Facebook page.
“The Gambia Police Force has extended an invitation to Mr. Momodou Sabally for questioning regarding comments he posted on his Facebook page in the days preceding the regrettable incident that resulted in the tragic loss of two police officers and the hospitalization of another in critical condition,” the Police says.
The police statement explained that the UDP campaign manager cooperated with GPF in the investigation.
Sherrifo Sonko, another active member of the UDP and Councilor at Brikama Area Council, has also been invited for questioning by the Police. The duo are expected to appear before the Police at Kairaba Police Station.
