We understand that Danish club AC Horsens has reached an agreement with Gambian side Sibanor United for the signing of highly-rated U17 talent Francis Gomez.

Sources suggest Francis, who recently traveled to Denmark for trials, made an immediate impression on AC Horsens’ coaches and technical staff, leading the club to secure his signature. This landmark move makes Francis the first Gambian player at his age to sign with a European club, marking a significant milestone for football in the West African nation.

The reported deal was facilitated by eBanor Sports, the agency managing Francis. Speaking on the transfer, eBanor Sports Agency’s CEO Sheriff ML Jarju revealed that the young star had attracted interest from several European clubs, but AC Horsens presented the most compelling plan for his future.

“We are happy for Francis, Sibanor United, and AC Horsens. Francis is a talented player with the potential to reach the highest level of football. Although there were numerous offers from other European clubs, we were most convinced by Horsens’ vision and development plan for him,” Jarju said.

He further emphasized eBanor Sports’ commitment to nurturing young African talents, particularly in The Gambia.

“One of our main objectives is to create a bridge for grassroots talents across Africa, especially in The Gambia, to reach professional football. The talent is there, but these players need the right guidance, mentorship, and protection from exploitation to fulfill their dreams,” he added.

Francis Gomez now embarks on an exciting journey in Europe, with hopes of making a name for himself and paving the way for more young Gambian footballers to follow in his footsteps.
