In a powerful show of compassion and community solidarity, the youth-led organization Road to Firdaus brought essential relief to families in need across multiple communities today, marking a highlight of this Ramadan season. The group, founded just last year during Ramadan, distributed vital supplies, including rice, cooking oil, onions, and sugar, to households in Sukuta, Tanjai, Tujereng, Lamin, and beyond, targeting those hardest hit by economic challenges.

Amadou Jammeh, chairman of Road to Firdaus, recounted the organization’s humble beginnings and rapid growth. What started as a modest plan to provide bread, butter, and tea to needy people blossomed into a large-scale effort, thanks to overwhelming community backing. In the week before Ramadan, the group raised an impressive D200,000 (Dalasi), reflecting the strength of collective goodwill.

Despite their success, Jammeh was candid about the hurdles the organization faces. Operating entirely on volunteer efforts, Road to Firdaus grapples with the ongoing need for funding and the often taxing process of soliciting donations. Yet, their resolve to uplift the community remains unshaken.

The organization employs a dedicated survey team to ensure aid reaches the most deserving recipients. “We don’t want to give charity into the wrong hands,” Jammeh explained. “That’s why we have a survey team that conducts thorough research in different communities.” The team assesses family sizes and the number of children per household, ensuring resources are allocated where they’re needed most.

Looking ahead, Road to Firdaus is determined to achieve financial independence. “We cannot keep relying on people for donations all the time,” Jammeh said, unveiling ambitious plans to launch a Muslim Islamic clothing brand. The initiative will start locally in Gambia and hopes to expand regionally, creating a sustainable revenue stream to fuel its charitable mission.

Hussain Dada, another key member of the group, emphasized the deeper meaning behind their work. “It’s inspiring to see people unite for a cause as vital as helping the less fortunate,” he said. “We’re a group of young people dedicated to making a difference. We may not solve every problem, but even a small act of kindness can bring a smile and impact a family.”

As Ramadan continues, Road to Firdaus stands as a shining example of youth-driven change. It blends faith, generosity, and innovation to support its community—one family at a time.
