Gambian Organization in Sweden (GOIS) celebrated its 50th anniversary in Stockholm suburbs.
This year’s celebration goes down as one of the best cultural weekends in the annals of the organization’s history. The Gambian community returned to plattan to have their sabarr together with three different types of asobi.
The long weekend featured different programs, with the Gambian foreign minister, Dr. Mamadou Tangara, gracing the occasion in the form of a town hall meeting. Dr. Tangara met the Gambian community and answered questions on the the airport fee, diaspora voting, the Palestine-Israel conflict, the establishment of a Gambian embassy in Sweden, and the integration of Gambia-Swedish born .Tangara emphasized that for any country to develop, it requires its diaspora to make meaningful change, giving examples of when he used to send hospital materials to the Gambia.

Culture and heritage were on display as the weekend featured a rich cultural night, featuring the hunting. The Red Line team combination of Alby and Norsborg ended up winning the championship in the traditional football match. The one-week celebration brought together Gambian influencers in Sweden and the best cuisines
APS sponsored the Gambian Organization in Sweden (GOIS) cultural weekend, strengthening their service across the length and breadth of the country.

The summer fiesta continues for the Gambian community in Stockholm. Kitabu and team will be visiting for what is their second time and will be performing at the Folkets Hus in Husby on the 12th of July. The Gambian-based team Banjul FC’s football carnival 6.0 will be on the 25-27th of July at the Rinkeby Football Field.
The chairwoman of the association, Fatou Juke, is returning gratefulness to the Gambian people in Sweden and her friends.

” This event has taught us that we want to reunite and that we are living in peace and harmony. All events were full of love; we were able to show to the next generation that culture matters. We are grateful to reach this milestone as a community and organization,” She indicated.
