The Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Welfare has awarded High Court Judge Justice Ebrima Jaiteh the prestigious Male Champion of the Year Award 2026 in recognition of his outstanding commitment to the prevention and response to Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in The Gambia.
The Certificate of Recognition was presented on Saturday, 25th April 2026, during the International Women’s Day National Celebration held in Kerewan. The award highlights Justice Jaiteh’s dedication to advancing gender equality and supporting survivors of gender-based violence through his judicial work and advocacy.
In a statement accompanying the certificate, the Ministry praised the judge, saying: “In recognition of your outstanding commitment to the prevention and response to Gender-Based Violence in The Gambia. Your dedication to the cause has earned you the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Welfare Gender-Based Violence Male Champion of the Year Award 2026.”
Justice Ebrima Jaiteh, a respected figure in the Gambian judiciary, has been instrumental in handling sensitive GBV cases with fairness, empathy, and a strong commitment to justice.
