Alhagie Mamadi Kurang, founder of Youth for Change Political movement and one of the rejected Independent presidential aspirants in last year’s Presidential Elections has announced plans to contest for the Niamina East Constituency seat in the upcoming Parliamentary elections.
Kurang, a native of Kudang, and an economist by training was one of the 15 Presidential aspirants disqualified by the IEC, in December 2021 after failing to meet the requirement for nominations for the office of President.
He is now eyeing the Niamina East seat and will battle with opposition Gambia Democratic Congress, Lawmaker, Omar Ceesay current occupant of the seat. Ceesay will be seeking re-election in the April Parliamentary elections.
” I plan to bring the problems of Niamina East to the forefront of National discuss and mobilize the population of the constituency to look for solutions to their problems emphasizing agriculture Education health and infrastructure,” Mr. Kurang told Alkamba Times.
