Elite United shocked league leaders Real De Banjul courtesy of Mbye Faye goal on Saturday evening at the independent stadium.
The victory came at a crucial time as both Elite and Gambia Armed Forces got off to a winning start in the second round.
Coach Yaya Manneh believes he will build on this momentum and have little time to celebrate the victory against Real de Banjul.
“My approach is not based on the win of the recent match but what do we achieve after that win especially winning against the top of the table standing team.” He quizzed.
“If we get the next three points off Team Rhino, then I validate the significance of the win against Real de Banjul.”
“Our previous match results always serve as a springboard for the next match.”
Coach Yaya Manneh emphasized that the belief in his team is gradually coming back
after their recent win and they will build on it.
“Certainly, confidence and hope are restoring especially winning the first match of the 2nd round and against the table-toppers”. Manneh added
We have a three-quarter approach for the second round thus meaning, we are working per 5 matches. Match 16 -20 is meant to fight for survival. 21-25 meant to solidify that survival and the last 5 matches will be operation back to 1-3 finish in the league.
Yaya Manneh and Elite United have a quite busy transfer window going into the second round, signing players from Senegal, Ghana, and The Gambia. Strengthening their powerful house upfront and bringing in two wingbacks.
