Gambian players continued to make their mark across Europe and Asia over the weekend, with Ali Sowe and Muhammed Dumbuya finding the net, while Abubakr Barry and Muhammed Badamoesi were denied victories by late equalizers.
There were also notable milestones, with Saikouba Ceesay scoring a hat-trick for Manila Diggers to reach 38 goals for the club, while Ismaila Ceesay made his Danish Superliga debut for AC Horsens and Youssoupha Sanyang made his debut for Artis.
England
Portsmouth picked up a point in a goalless draw against Charlton Athletic at The Valley.
Ebou Adams came on for Shein in John Mousinho’s first substitution. Portsmouth continued to control proceedings, with Adams playing a role in one of their best attacking moves.
The Gambian midfielder threaded a fine pass through to Kamara, whose low cross was laid off by Bishop for Stipe Šegrčić to shoot, but Charlton goalkeeper Nathaniel Okonkwo made the save.

Cagliari continued their impressive start to the Serie A campaign with a 2–0 victory over Atalanta at the New Balance Arena in Bergamo.
Goals from Paul Mendy and Daniel Maldini secured the win for the Sardinian side, who have now beaten Parma, Lecce and Atalanta, with their only defeat coming against Inter. Alieu Fadera was introduced in the 57th minute.
Germany
Abdoulie Ceesay was handed his first start of the season as St. Pauli secured their first victory of the campaign.
Ceesay contributed at both ends of the pitch before being substituted in the 91st minute. He came close to opening the scoring in the 12th minute when his header was saved.
The Gambian forward also played an important role in St. Pauli’s winning goal. Ceesay pressed aggressively and won possession, with the ball eventually falling to Japanese midfielder Shuto Fujita, who scored the winner.
Czech Republic
Sparta Praha secured a comfortable 2–0 victory over Jablonec. Lamin Jawo started the game but had limited impact and was substituted early, while Ebrima Singhateh was introduced in the 72nd minute.
In the Brno derby, Artis suffered a narrow 2–1 defeat to Brno, with Youssoupha Sanyang making his debut for Artis.
Austria
RB Salzburg were denied all three points by a late equalizer from Reid.
Karim Konaté put Salzburg ahead in the 84th minute before Pomer equalized two minutes later. The result leaves Salzburg third in the table with 14 points after eight matches. Abubakr Barry played the entire game.
Croatia
Abdoulie Sanyang provided the assist for the only goal as Hajduk Split defeated Slaven 1–0 in the Croatian Premier League on Sunday. It was Sanyang’s second goal contribution in seven matches this season.
Denmark
AC Horsens suffered their fourth defeat of the season after losing to FC Copenhagen on Friday night. Alagie Saine retained his place in the starting XI, while youngster Ismaila Ceesay made his Danish Superliga debut, coming on in the 81st minute for Ghanaian midfielder Abdul Moro.
Elsewhere, Mustapha Nyassi and Alasana Manneh both started for their respective sides as they secured a draw against third-placed FC Fredericia on Saturday.
Latvia
Riga FC squandered a 2–0 lead against Auda as the visitors fought back to secure a 2–2 draw. Muhammed Badamoesi and Wally Fofana both started for Riga.
Badamoesi had Riga’s first chance of the match but fired wide. The Gambian striker came close again when he had an opportunity to double Riga’s advantage, but his left-footed effort sailed over the crossbar.
The second goal also passed through Badamoesi before Ferreira eventually found the net.
Auda’s Appiah then scored twice to complete the comeback and deny Riga all three points.
Asia
Manila Diggers completed a double over Kasuka in the ASEAN Shopee Cup qualifiers.
Six Gambians were named in the starting XI, while another came off the bench.
Saikouba Ceesay, who scored in the first leg, was the star of the second encounter, scoring a hat-trick as Manila Diggers secured another victory.
His third goal was particularly spectacular and could go down as one of the finest goals in the history of the qualifiers.
Bruycker played the ball forward, and as it travelled into Ceesay’s path, the Gambian unleashed a powerful right-footed strike into the top corner beyond the goalkeeper.
The hat-trick takes Ceesay to four goals in two games in the qualifiers and 38 goals for Manila Diggers.
The milestone further underlines the Gambian forward’s remarkable impact since joining the Philippine club.
