Commission on Political Debates Postpones Brikama Chairmanship Debate Due to Moderator Withdrawal

The Executive Director of the Commission on Political Debates, Bakary Fatty

The Commission on Political Debates regrets to inform the public that the Brikama Chairmanship debate scheduled for tomorrow, May 10th, 2023, has been postponed to May 14th, 2023, due to the abrupt withdrawal of the moderator two days before the debate.

The Commission on Political Debates takes the responsibility of ensuring fair and impartial debates seriously, and we understand the importance of providing voters with the opportunity to hear directly from the candidates. The withdrawal of the moderator is an unexpected development that we did not anticipate. We are working diligently to identify and secure a replacement moderator for the debate as soon as possible.

The Commission on Political Debates understands that the public is eager to hear from the candidates, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused by the postponement. We remain committed to ensuring that the debates are conducted in a professional and impartial manner, and we will continue to work tirelessly to provide the public with the information they need to make informed decisions on election day.

Meanwhile, we will continue to engage candidates in KMC and Banjul for their participation. So far, none of them has unconditionally confirmed to participate in these debates.

We will keep the public informed of any further developments, and we thank you for your patience and understanding.
