A man has pleaded guilty to engaging in an unnatural act with an underage boy and was convicted at Kanifing Magistrate’s Court.
The case was heard on Wednesday before Magistrate I. Sallah M’Bai. The accused faced a charge under section 122(1)(a) of the Criminal Offenses Act 2015. Inspector Buba Jallow, assisted by Cpl. F. Ceesay and Cpl. A. Badjie, represented the Inspector General of Police.
Prosecutor Inspector Buba Jallow told the court the offense took place on 23 July 2026. He said the accused called the minor to his house, where the assault occurred. The victim, whose identity is withheld to protect his privacy, reported the incident to his parents. He was taken to a police station and then to hospital. A medical examination found he was bleeding from the back.
Police arrested the accused, who admitted the facts. The prosecution tendered two medical certificates prepared by Dr Richard A. Sambou, dated 14 and 17 July 2026, photographs of the scene, the victim’s blood-stained shirt, the accused’s cautionary and voluntary statements recorded in the presence of an independent witness, and a copy of the minor’s birth certificate.
When asked if he objected to the documents, the accused said: “No objection.” Magistrate Sallah M’Bai admitted them as exhibits: the medical certificates as A1 and A2, the statements as B1 and B2, the photographs as C1 to C7, and the birth certificate as D.
The magistrate sought clarification on the accused’s earlier remark that the act was “not my intention.” The accused replied: “I did this, but I never thought that I would have done it.” He confirmed he was of sound mind and maintained his guilty plea.
Magistrate Sallah M’Bai treated the statement as an expression of remorse. Finding the facts supported the charge, he convicted the accused as charged.
The case was adjourned to Tuesday 11 August 2026 for mitigation and sentencing. The convict was remanded at Mile Two Prisons until that date.
