The United States Embassy in Banjul has announced the appointment of Mariama Janneh as the new USAID Program Manager.

In a statement on its social media sites, the embassy said:” Join us in welcoming our new USAID Program Manager, Mariama Janneh. This appointment, among others, underscores the United States government’s commitment to development programming in The Gambia and Embassy Banjul’s resolve to complement the development aspirations of Gambian people.”

The statement said, ‘Mariama will work closely with her colleagues to identify opportunities for USAID engagement in The Gambia and provide oversight for implementing the agency’s projects in the country.’

USAID is rolling out many programs in The Gambia, including the five-year $7.9 million Promoting Rights to Justice Program (PRJ). The agency had, in 2022, provided support for the health and education sectors of The Gambia and humanitarian assistance worth over $250,000 for flood victims in the country.
