Ali Sowe, Gassama, Kajally and Kebba Sowe on target

The Alkamba Times brings you the Gambian foreign-based player’s weekend roundup. Ali Sowe, Abdoulie Gassama and Kebba Sowe were all on target as Hamza Barry returned to action for Vejle. Assan Ceesay has now scored six league goals for Damac same as he had for Lecce. Drammeh, the hero for Future Fc following his dramatic goal for the Egyptians.  

Belgium  

Alieu Fadera maintained his position in the KRC Genk lineup when they drew 2-2 against KAA Gent.  It was Tiisoudali and Sor who scored a brace each as Fadera lasted for 79 minutes.  

Netherlands 

Yankuba Minteh who started against Atletico Madrid came on in the second half against PSV. A spirited PSV registered a 2-1 win.  

Switzerland  

Ebrima Colley started against Servette while Saidy Janko was introduced in the second half when he replaced Lewin Blum in the 46th minute. It ended 1-1.  

Turkey  

MEK Ankaragucu drew 1-1 against Besiktas.  Ali Sowe drew the first stroke with what was his 3rd league goal. Sowe received a pass and forced his way into the 18 yard box, his initial shot was blocked but he followed up with a sublime finish.  

Slovakia  

Mahmudu Bajo played his 14th league game of the season as FK Železiarne Podbrezová won 2-1 away from home against AS Trenčín.  The U20 midfielder achieved an incredible feat as he was ranked 2nd in the World as player with the highest percentage of ground duels won per match by CIES Football Observatory, a research group that specialises in the statistical analysis of football. 

Denmark  

A six-pointer between Vejle and Randers ended in a stalemate. Hamza returned to the starting XI and lasted for 80 minutes. While Musaw Juwara was introduced in the 62nd minute to bolster the attack. 

Saudi Arabia  

Damac are five games unbeaten, winning three and drawing two in the process. Ceesay is playing second fidle to former Marseille and Spurs striker N’Koudou who has now  scored ten goals. Ceesay scored his sixth league goal in 14 matches as he netted back-to-back in Damac’s 4-2 win over Al Fayha  

CAF Champions League  

Both Lamin Jallow and Kebba Sowe lost their second CAF Champions League match. Jallow came in the second half in the 71st  and Sowe came on in the 46th minute . Sowe scored his first goal for Esperance in the 71st but they ended up losing 2-1 to Al Hilal while Ghanaian side Medeama won with a similar scoreline against Tunisian giants.  

Kajally Drammeh had an incredible evening against Al Hilal Benghazi. He came off the bench to assist Mohsen for the equalizer in the 65 minute and went on to score the winner in the 90+2 minutes.  

Senegal  

Saikou Ceesay and Abdoulie Gassama were all taken off in the second half. However, Gassama scored from the spot to take his goal tally to 2 goals in the season as Guediawaye drew against Fatick 2-2 at Stade Amadou Barry stadium.

The Stockholm-based Journalist is a media officer, football Scout, PR, Influencer and Digital creator. I started my journalism career as a football analyst in 2012 with Vibes FM and went on to work with CityLimit, West Coast, Hot FM, Freedom Radio, Eye Africa and Afri Radio as a content producer and presenter. In 2013, I attended Football Daily on the BBC SPORTS where we discussed the different styles of Football played in Africa. I Went on to freelance for The Point Newspaper, Freedom Newspaper, Daily Observer and Standard Newspaper before being appointed as Sports Editor with the Alkamba Times in March 2022.  I have worked for Magazines like Glo Magazine and Foot54 covering Gambian football and African Football.   Between 2020 -2021 I worked as a scout for the Gambia Football Federation, scouting talents for the U17 &U20.  From 2017 to 2021, I served as Media officer for GFF First division teams Team Rhino and Marimoo and also as media Officer of Banjul FC, fourth Division tier in Sweden and Darboe’s FC (Female second division club in the Gambia). In organizational structures, I served as the ambassador of the John Bass Kidney Foundation and one of the founders of the foundation creating kidney awareness in the Gambia.   I also served two positions in the Gambian organization in Sweden, as Sports chairman and the secretary of the associations.   After 12 years of being a football journalist, I was named 3rd best sports column writer in Africa year 2021 by the reputable sports media organization AIPS. I finished in the top 35 in the world with my article titled Back way: Gambian footballers in deadly Voyage to Europe.   With over 500 articles and interviews, analysis, profiling, features and news, I was shortlisted for the Gambia Press Union National Journalist Award 2022. I submitted the article which was co-written alongside Momodou Bah From Living Through Despair to Being An Agent Of Hope, The Inspiring Story Of John Bass.   I have served as an advisers to Football academies, clubs, and players and others. I have hosted dozens of shows and was invited as a guest on both radio, TV and the online press. I also covered the Gambia's maiden AFCON debut in 2021 in Cameroon.
