Team Rhino handed Fortune FC its second season defeat following its 1-0 win, courtesy of Ousainou Jaguraga’s 12th-minute super strike.
Fortune FC was expected to open a four-point lead against defending champion Real de Banjul, but Team Rhinos’ home form spoiled the party for the Petroleum boys.
Rhino has the best defense in the league, conceding only four goals in 13 matches and having only lost once at home against Banjul United. They currently sit third with 25 points.
Goalscorer Ousainou Jaguraga and head coach Yunusa Badjie spoke to the Alkamba Times sports desk.
“I feel pleased about scoring and, more importantly, against these big teams. It means a lot; this is my first year in the league. It’s teamwork from the coaches to the players, whose hands and help have proven to be dividends,” Ousainou told TAT Sports.
Ousainou only missed the Team Rhino vs BST game. In five of the Rhinos games, he started from the bench.
His presence is felt; he has won ten points singlehandedly for Team Rhino. Finding the winner against Wallidan, Falcons, Fortune, and his equalizer in the 74th minute against Bombada Utd.
“We are always preparing for games and hold each game as our last life, especially games against the big guns. Our target is a top-three finish; we will go for it if we can win the league. I am focusing more on my development and how to win every game.”
On his part, Coach Yunusa was full of praise for his young talent, Ousainou, and others such as Assan Badjie Jr. and Ousman Jarju in the ranks of Team Rhino.
“Ousainou is a star, a top talent. I see him more as a point striker than a wing player. We are very impressed with him; he is still learning.” Yunusa emphasized
“If we finish in the top three at the end of the first round, it will be perfect because that’s the season’s objective. Then, we can prepare better for the second round and adjust whatever we want to adjust,” he added.
