Banjul Magistrate Court, under Principal Magistrate Krubally, has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Sanna Manjang, a former Gambia Armed Forces member and alleged key figure in the notorious “Junglers” assassin team.

The court’s decision follows a police application filed by Assistant Superintendent E. Sarr, who urged the court to compel Manjang’s appearance for trial.

The move comes amid international pressure, with Interpol Washington, United States National Central Bureau, contacting the Gambia Police Force on February 25, 2025.

In their correspondence, Interpol inquired whether Manjang remains a wanted fugitive and requested a copy of any existing arrest warrant along with case details.

“Dear colleagues, is Sanna MANJANG still wanted by your country? If so, please provide a copy of the arrest warrant,” the message read. Magistrate Krubally swiftly approved the police request, issuing the warrant to ensure Manjang faces justice.

Manjang is accused of being a long-serving member of the “Junglers,” a shadowy unit allegedly responsible for widespread atrocities during the regime of former President Yahya Jammeh (1994-2016). Authorities claim he played a central role in the disappearance, murder, torture, and rape of numerous individuals, earning a reputation as one of the group’s most brutal operatives.
