The Gambia national female U-20 football team faces a huge task as they brace up for the return leg clash with Burkina Faso in the FIFA U-20 women’s World Cup qualifiers.

The Young Queen scorpions suffered a one-nil defeat in the first leg in Banjul and will be hoping to overturn the tie when they take on a free-flowing Burkina side in Porto Nove in Benin on Saturday 9th October 2021.

Foday Bah’s team, who had series of training sessions in Benin, are sounding upbeat ahead of the clash.

“We are very prepared to make sure that we win our away game so we can prepare for the next stage. So we are urging all the Gambians to pray for us so we go back with the victory”, Jarra Jabang, The Gambia U-20 defender told the GFF Media team.

Sang Ndong, the Technical Director of GFF and the technical adviser for the U-20 team, said since it is a neutral ground, a win is possible for the Young Scorpions.

“You win football before the matches and the environment created is a motivating one, everybody is trying to play their part and is a very solid team. If it continues like this, we will see a very good game on Saturday and we can win since both teams are travelling to meet in Benin. So it is anybody’s game”, Sang said.

The two teams will clash at 3pm Gambian time at Stade Charles De Gaulle in Porto Novo.
